What Is the Consular Process?

It’s the procedure for obtaining an immigrant visa abroad at a U.S. consulate. It involves:

Filing Form I-130 or other petition.

02

Approval by USCIS and case transfer to the National Visa Center (NVC).

03

Submission of civil documents and fees to the NVC.

04

Attending an interview at the U.S. consulate or embassy.

Once approved, your family member can enter the U.S. as a permanent resident.
