COBB STATE COURT CASE – Frederick R. Mann Jr of The Law Offices of Matthew C. Hines, LLC successfully resolved the case of a 19 year old client charged with 5 offenses as a result of hitting a street sign and severing an electrical power line on April 19 of this year. The case was in State Court in Cobb County. Pursuant to negotiations the State dropped or merged 3 of the 5 charges and reduced the Leaving the Scene allegation to one of “property damage” only (no other vehicle was in fact involved). The defendant entered a plea of guilty to Failure to Maintain Lane and Leaving the Scene of Property Damage only. The defendant apparently lost control of his vehicle while taking a curve at 1:30AM, striking the street sign, which then flew into a power line. The defendant’s insurance paid for the damage to the sign and the power line. No one was injured and no other vehicle was involved. The defendant was placed on 11 months probation, credit for 1 day in jail, and no further jail was required. All fines and costs of supervision were waived as the client has to perform 40 hours of community service and complete a Teen Victim Impact Panel session
